Default That Evil Officer

Warning: Some of this thread will be a rant.

I'm getting rather annoyed of joining a guild that has that one officer who just abuses their power of being one. Whether it being a complete jerk, acting like he/she is the greatest thing in the entire GW universe, or just spamming for no reason. Over the length of time of six months, I've been in over 15 guilds that has had one of these type of officers. The guild leader ignores it all the time, and the officer just enjoys kicking out people who try to tell him/her to shut up.

As of right now, I'm choosing to be not in a guild. (Getting kicked out once again not too long)

So let me ask you all:
Have you been in the same situation I've been in where one of the officers just really doesn't deserve to be one? If so, does the guild leader even listen if you try to explain the situation?

Also, thank you for reading my thread.

My first suggestion is, stop hopping guilds. Secondly, it's quite possible you should do some background searching on the guilds you do join. And Ignore is always a handy option

The OP reminds me of something I read once: "the one thing that all of your failed relationships have in common is you."

Trying to tell a guild officer to shut up -- in over 15 different guilds over a period of 6 months now, if I'm reading the post correctly -- is really not the best way to "win friends and influence people."

I have been in just two guilds in the 18 months I've played GW (the first guild just sort of died due to inactive players ), but I have never been kicked out of one. Then again, I never told any of the officers to shut up either.

This could realistically be your side of it...but if you have problems talk to the guild leader.

Why don't you start a guild yourself? Problem solved.

Who cares if he hops PvE guilds, when you have 1000 members they just become numbers.

This would solve his misfortunes, but not the problem (if it even is one.)

You have really bad luck with guilds it seems :/

Can't say I've come across similar myself, but then I've only been in 4 guilds, a friend's, my own, a random one, and the one I'm in and adore now.

Next time you join, make sure you ask questions about the guild's general ambiance and character. I guess it can be hard to tell, though :/ Good luck if you decide to search again.

A: No telling in guild chat to Officer to shut up. (I'm a officer too, you tell me to shut up, and i'll kick ya too )
B: 6 months isn't nearly enough experience as people who have been playing for 1 year, or 2.
C:15 guilds in 6 months >.> it is your problem. 3 Guilds in 25 months. In 1 I've been Guild Leader >.>

Them > you.

Yea the power has a strange effect on people. Even in my guild which i've been in for a good 2 years. I was in a strange mood and swore in guild chat and instead of a friendly "don't swear" i got threatened with a kick. This pissed me off and i egged him on till he did it. I got invited strait back by the guild leader but it almost resulted in me quitting a brilliant guild.

No offence but, I have read a lot of your threads and a lot of your replies and from the way you talk it does not surprise me that you would get kicked out of guilds.

I guess I am trying to figure out if the common denominator in these 15 guilds is that 1 (different) guy or you?

Oh and to answer your question, no I have never been in this situation as I am in the same guild that I started in the day GW released.

I also agree that maybe your best bet is to stay guild less for a while. Give yourself some time to figure things out.

Learn about the guild you're thinking of joining before putting on the cape!

Things to consider:
1. What are the guild's overall goals?
2. How is the guild structured/how many people are in it?
3. What is the makeup of the guild - a bunch of random people, or people who have taken the time to get to know each other?
3. Does the guild have a code of conduct?
4. What are their requirements for membership?
5. If they have a web site / forums - visit them
6. How long has the guild been around?
7. What have YOU got to offer any prospective guild?
8. Is their cape really that cool?

Taking your time with joining a guild is no bad thing, you can avoid a lot of problems that way. EXAMPLE: In my guild, we've had new members who failed to grasp the fact that we've been around for a long time - and all that that implies. They thought that they were going to take over how we ran our guild. They didn't stick around long.

What this person said and try some guilds out for a week or two as I get guild hoppers all the time. They don't bother asking me about the guild as I am leader.I thought Anet was going to but a 1 month untill you can leave option.

Thats just stupid. If I was officer and you were in my guild, I started calling you a bunch of names and said how bad you were at the game, and you tell me to shut up, you really think I have the right to kick you for that even though I was the one that did something wrong?
